Custom-Made Interior or Exterior Wood Doors

Long before people or machines were building modern doors with composite stiles and thin veneer layers, artisans crafted solid wood doors that lasted for generations. HOW? 

     These craftsmen had a working knowledge of wood movement, and instead of trying to stop this movement they planned for it. Planning for and allowing got this movement is the principle of all the solid wood doors at Black Hills Craftsmen.

We use this age old thinking, along with our proprietary processes to build a strong, solid door, this allows slight wood movements as well as maintains beauty and integrity. Sure we could talk about things like, engineered core, engineered rail and stile, and so on. However, we believe finely crafted doors speak for themselves.

Although most of our doors are crafted using reclaimed materials, we have crafted doors from alder, oak, cherry, douglas fir, beetle killed pine, and cedar as well. We have also crafted several that are different on the interior and exterior. Remember we build with the client in mind, so let us know what you are dreaming of. 

This is where the attention to detail really matters. So starting with an entry door slab built and finished to our high standards(we warranty our finish for 3 years), no matter where the door is installed we move unto the frame.

We believe even the best doors would be incomplete without a high quality frame system. We start with a Pemko heavy duty adjustable threshold (most problems with entry systems are because of a poorly built threshold). Then we add high quality weatherstripping, Hager hinges and Emtek handlesets.
